Abstrak
Self-esteem is how we value ourselves. It affects many aspects in young adults such as academic and social performance. Lower self-esteem in young adults may lead to psychological and behavioral dysfunction which is addiction. Internet can be a safe place for young adults to be whatever they want, individuals with lower self-esteem feel more excited when they are on internet that they can improve their self-image through internet, they tend to lose control in internet use and may lead to higher addiction levels toward internet. Different countries showed many variables affected people with lower self-esteem are more addicted to internet. There is no data regarding relationship between self-esteem and internet addiction of young adults in Indonesia. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the correlation between self-esteem and internet addiction level in IPB University students.
